Do you wanna know what I confessed in there? What my greatest sin was?
Like.
If there’s still one dumbass who doesn’t understand why Sam brought up Benny and Castiel, it’s because Sam felt like he drove Dean away by letting him down. That it was Sam’s fault Dean can’t trust him but has no problem trusting other people. People he’s known for less time. People who don’t know shit about Dean. People who have not always been there for Dean. Sam can’t live with himself knowing that the brother he has been with for ~30 years cannot trust him when Dean should trust Sam above all others. And Sam was willing to give his life (again) to make that right. Because he couldn’t live with himself knowing that Dean couldn’t trust him but could trust others. It has nothing to do with Sam not wanting Dean to “make friends” you dipships; Sam doesn’t want Dean’s entire life to revolve around him.
You call it a guilt trip or selfishness. The rest of us say this conversation was a long time coming. It’s about time Sam said this. It’s about time we understood that Sam has just as many if not more self-worth issues as Dean. That he’s just as damaged. And it’s about time Dean finally understood that he is wrong to not trust Sam.
